May Esthetician Of The Month

Meet Brianna Becker

Bri is a Licensed Esthetician and business owner located in Fort Wayne. Indiana. Bri made a big career shift in 2018 to attend beauty school where she fell in love with the art of waxing and facials. She strives for her salon to be a safe space for people to explore themselves. She loves it when clients open up to her and feel comfortable in the most vulnerable positions like Brazilians!

Bri also co-hosts a beauty and business podcast you might be familiar with called The Waxing Leo’s.

Check out Bri’s Personal Instagram and Business Instagram to learn more about her and her business.

How long have you been in the beauty industry?

6+ years

What inspired you to become an esthetician?

I got into esthetics school for my love of skincare and facials - and now here I am waxing 20+ vulvas a day!

Why did you decide to start your own business?

My parents are entrepreneurs, so I’ve definitely always had that “in my DNA”, you could say! I remember in school looking at salons to possibly work at and none seemed like places I would fit in. I’m heavily tattooed, chunky, neurodivergent & blunt. I just didn’t fit the salon stereotype at the time so I decided I would create a space for other beauty professionals like myself!

What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced while running your own business? How do you cope?

Imposter syndrome for sure. The constant self-doubt is crazy and exhausting. I’m going on year 5 and just now accepting my achievements. Therapy, Zoloft, & finding hobbies that can shut your work brain off (for me, plants & gaming) have been extremely helpful in coping with this!

What's your favorite service to perform and why?

Brazilian waxes - hands down! I love being able to be the person people can trust for such a vulnerable service and I love educating & uplifting clients about their bodies.

What is one business tool that you can't live without?

Online booking!!!! Literally LIFE changing. The automated emails, digital forms, receipts, etc.

How and when did you discover Bushbalm Skincare? Why did you decide to carry us?

2020! I was on the HUNT for an amazing aftercare product that wasn’t sold in large stores - and that WORKED! I loved the simple ingredients, the packing (the OG green bottle🤍), and the price point! It was love at first sight.

Which Bushbalm product is most popular at your salon? Why do you think that is?

Nude Oil, 100000%! It’s fresh, hydrating, and it WORKS!

What do you enjoy most about the Bushbalm Pro community?

How none of it’s gimmicky. Everyone and everything is genuine. We all believe in the products and use them firsthand.

What advice would you give to new estheticians entering the field right now?

START SMALL! It’s easy to get caught up in social media and see what people have - but we’ve been working at it for YEARS! I started in a 9x11 room inside of a gym. I now have a salon that’s over 4,000sq ft. We all start somewhere and growth is always ideal but all flowers grow at different rates and are still equally as beautiful. 🤍
