She believes in fostering a supportive and encouraging environment, guiding her clients through the process with empathy and humor! Samantha's advice to aspiring estheticians? Establish a strong foundation of structure and policies within your business. Not only will it streamline your operations, but it will also elevate the client experience. 💅

How long have you been in the beauty industry?

For 6 years.

What inspired you to become an esthetician?

Beauty has always been an interest of mine since I was a kid. YouTube creators inspired me to try new things. I always knew I wanted to do something with interacting with people as well. So it seemed perfect 😊

Why did you decide to start your own business?

I used to have my own business when I was doing hair in 2018, but then when COVID happened I got my job back at Starbucks. There was always a EWC nearby and thought since I already have my license, why not? The rest is history.

What's your favorite service to perform and why?

Brazilians! I remember it was the most nerve-racking service for me to do in the beginning. Then once I became comfortable with my craft I realized that I really enjoy helping the client get through the service by distracting them with my humor.

What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced while running your own business? How do you cope?

Yikes! My biggest challenge with running my business is TAXES and I have a problem with over-ordering. I hate the feeling or being out of something so I always have back stock which can be unnecessary. I have to remind myself that when a challenge is facing you, it is what teaches you to be more than you once were.

What is one business tool that you can't live without?

Instagram! I’m still learning a lot about it but if I didn’t start making videos my business would not be where it is today.

How and when did you discover Bushbalm Skincare? Why did you decide to carry us?

I discovered this company when I was looking for products to retail. I first started seeing Bushbalm on TikTok from other waxers. I chose to carry the line because of its price range and the products WORK! I know exactly what I’m getting when using each product.

Which Bushbalm product is most popular at your salon? Why do you think that is?

Definitely the oils and scrubs! The scrubs don’t leave a residue on the skin, it just feels plump and moisturized. The oil is very moisturizing without making the skin feel heavy or sweaty.

What do you enjoy most about the Bushbalm Pro community?

The content is cute and inspiring. It’s a very open feeling and they don’t beat around the “bush” about things.

What advice would you give to new estheticians entering the field right now?

Don’t expect to have clients just “walk-in” that’s not a thing anymore. You have to put yourself out there and in any scenario, bring up your business. You never know if that person has a group of friends looking for your services.
