December Esthetician of the Month

Meet Victoria Gonzalez

Meet Victoria Gonzalez (@thepeachywaxer), the passionate and driven Texas-based esthetician whose license recently turned nine years old! She’s the proud owner The Peachy Wax Studio, where she specializes in brows, Brazilians, and lash lifts—backed by multiple certifications and a reputation for expertise. Known for her warm, empathetic approach, Victoria creates confidence-boosting experiences for her clients and has built a thriving business rooted in authenticity, skill, and care.

What inspired you to become an esthetician?

I actually had two people tell me I should be an esthetician before I ever saw the vision for myself. Once I toured the school I eventually attended, I fell in love with the environment and felt called to stay. During school, I was always the one volunteering to wax and offering up my own body parts for learning experiences (including my coochie lol).

It really took others seeing it in me before I could see it in myself. But once I got there, it all felt so natural—like I truly belonged.

Why did you decide to start your own business?

I was experiencing burnout and starting to feel like just a number. After Covid, my hours kept getting cut, and suddenly the job I once loved was no longer a sustainable income. I realized I had outgrown the environment I was in, and staying there meant settling for less than what I knew I was capable of.

So I put in my two weeks—making sure I could still take care of my clients through the Thanksgiving rush, but allowing myself to fully step away after that. When I finally paused and took the rest of the year off, it became clear: it was time to build something of my own.

I wanted more control, more creativity, and the freedom to show up for clients the way I believed they deserved. I wanted a career where I wasn’t just filling a schedule, but actually growing, learning, and shaping a space that reflected my values.

Starting my own business was scary, but it was also empowering. It gave me the chance to create something meaningful—something that felt aligned with who I am and the kind of esthetician I want to be. And honestly? It ended up being so worth it.

What is your favorite service to perform and why?

I actually offer a Brow and Brazilian bundle so my clients can save some coin and I get to do my two favorite services. Brows are fascinating to me—the way they can completely make or break someone’s look is amazing. And I love the confidence boost my clients feel after a Brazilian. It’s like an instant mood-lifter.

PLUS, I started telling my clients, “Let’s do your Brazilian first and add a hydrogel vajacial mask. That way it can sit while we do your brows, and you’ll leave here feeling like you didn’t just get waxed!” They almost always say yes.

It’s a total win-win: they get extra self-care, and I get to create an experience that feels relaxing, intentional, and results-driven.

Tell us about the biggest challenge you've faced while running your own business. How do you cope?

The biggest challenge I’ve faced has been learning how to say no. In the beginning, I really struggled with setting boundaries—I wanted to make everyone happy, and I thought saying yes to everything was part of building a business. But I quickly realized how important boundaries are, not just for my own well-being, but for maintaining mutual respect between me and my clients.

Over time, I’ve gotten so much better at it. Setting those expectations from the start really does make all the difference. And I’ve learned that not every client is going to be for you… and that’s okay. The right clients will always respect your time, your policies, and your energy.

What business goals have you set for yourself this year, and how do you plan to achieve them?

With the year coming to an end, my immediate goal is simply to survive the holiday season—it’s always a whirlwind! But looking ahead, my biggest goal for the coming year is to move into a storefront and hire my second employee.

I’m excited to grow, build a stronger team, and create a space that feels truly aligned with the experience I want to offer my clients.

What is one business tool you can't live without?

My favorite business tool is definitely my booking site! It keeps everything organized, helps clients book easily, and takes so much stress off my plate. It really streamlines my day-to-day.

How and when did you discover Bushbalm? Why did you choose to carry us?

My estie actually gifted me the scrub and oil for my birthday, and I was instantly obsessed. I used Bushbalm on myself for about three months, and once I realized how much I genuinely loved the results, I knew I had to bring it into my treatment room.

I chose to carry Bushbalm because I only want to offer my clients products I personally believe in—and this one made that decision easy. The quality, the results, and the overall experience aligned perfectly with what I want for my clients. It just made sense.

Which Bushbalm product is most popular at your salon? Why do you think that is?

Definitely the Bermuda Dark Spot Scrub! It’s easily the client favorite. I talk about exfoliation all the time, and since my client demographic is mainly women of color, hyperpigmentation is something many of us deal with. The scrub targets dark spots so well, and my clients love that it gives them something effective they can use consistently at home. It’s become a staple in their routines.

What do you enjoy most about the Bushbalm Pro community?

I love how welcoming everyone is! The Bushbalm PRO community truly feels like collaboration, not competition. It’s so refreshing to be surrounded by people who support, uplift, and learn from one another.

What advice would you give to new estheticians entering the field?

If you’re trying to build your clientele and fill your books… work! The industry is BOOMING right now, but clients aren’t just going to walk through your door if they don’t know you exist or if you’re not making yourself available. Post yourself, post your work, post your availability, and show up.

Being reliable and consistent with a great attitude will take you so much further than someone who has talent but carries a bad attitude. Consistency and professionalism are everything.
