Karen Davidson is a passionate esthetician and the mastermind behind Pink Palms, a Texas-based wax studio built on sisterhood, top-tier services, and a whole lot of good vibes. With seven years in the beauty biz, she’s turned nervous first-timers into confident, smooth-skinned queens—and she loves every second of it! Despite the challenges of running a business, Karen embraces setbacks as learning opportunities and is focused on growing her brand, refining her services, and building strong client relationships. A dedicated Bushbalm Pro, she swears by the Radiant Reset Toner Pads and loves being part of a community that values education, engagement, and fun. Her best advice for new estheticians? Be patient, build real connections with your clients, and trust that if you put in the work, success has to show up—just like that one client who always books last-minute!
What inspired you to become an esthetician
I became an esthetician because I love helping people feel confident and beautiful in their own skin. There’s nothing more rewarding than transforming someone’s nerves or hesitation about a Brazilian wax into total confidence. Watching them leave feeling like a queen—happy, smooth, and unstoppable—is the best part of my job.
Why did you decide to start your own business?
I’ve always dreamed of creating a wax studio where sisterhood is at the core of everything we do. At Pink Palms, we’re all about delivering exceptional services, offering high-quality products, and ensuring every client feels appreciated, supported, and uplifted.
What is your favoiorte service to perform and why?
Brazilian waxes, hands down—that’s our specialty! There’s something magical about seeing a first-time client walk in nervous and unsure, then leave smiling and saying, “That wasn’t so bad!” or “I expected worse!” It’s a transformative moment, and I love being a part of it.
Tell us about the biggest challenge you've faced while running your own business. How do you cope?
The biggest challenge has been dealing with setbacks—unexpected issues, mistakes, or delays. In the moment, they’re frustrating, but I’ve learned those hurdles are where real growth happens. Every setback teaches me something new, whether it’s handling situations more effectively or simply building patience and resilience.
Now, I try to give myself grace and find the silver lining in every challenge. Stumbling isn’t failing—it’s learning. Those tough moments have shaped me into a stronger leader, and for that, I’m grateful.
What business goals have you set for yourself this year and how do you plan to get there?
This year, I’m focused on growing my waxers’ client base, enhancing the overall client experience, and strengthening my brand. Since we’ve only been open for two months as a team, I’m fine-tuning our marketing strategies, perfecting our services to stand out, and streamlining behind-the-scenes operations. It’s all about consistency, learning what works, and building momentum!
What is one business tool that you can't live without?
My Square Register! It keeps everything organized—appointments, client information, and reminders—so I don’t have to juggle it all in my head. It makes life so much easier and ensures a seamless experience for clients. Honestly, it’s a lifesaver!
How and when did you discover Bushbalm? Why did you choose to carry us?
This June marks three years since I discovered Bushbalm! I first found you on TikTok and immediately thought, “What is this?!” After investigating, I realized the products aligned perfectly with my clients’ needs. I had to bring them on board!
Plus, your limited-edition scents are always a hit—Watermelon Sugar was my absolute favorite, and I’m holding out hope you’ll bring it back this year (fingers crossed!). Your customer service is also top-notch. It’s so rare these days to get quick and helpful responses, and I hope that never changes. Thank you for that!
Which Bushbalm product is most popular at your salon? Why do you think that is?
The oils are always a hit, but the Radiant Reset Toner Pads are client favorites. They’re convenient, effective, and brighten the skin—what’s not to love? Clients appreciate how easy they are to use and how well they maintain their skin between waxes.
What do you enjoy most about the Bushbalm Pro community?
I love how inclusive and engaging you are! Being February’s Esthetician of the Month is such an honor—what other company does that? Your webinars are super informative (even though I miss some of them), and the Instagram chats always keep things fun and exciting.
I’ll never forget when you came to San Antonio for the Roller Rescue launch and invited estheticians to join—it was such a fun experience meeting you and connecting with my fellow esthi sisters. I hope there are more events like that in the future!
What advice would you give to new estheticians entering the field right now?
Be patient and give yourself grace—it takes time to build your skills, confidence, and clientele. Focus on creating meaningful relationships with your clients. People return because of the trust and connection you build, not just the service you provide.
And most importantly, don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s. Success looks different for everyone, but if you stay consistent and put in the work, it has no choice but to show up. Keep going—you’ve got this!
