Meet Brisa Bustamonte

Brisa Bustamonte is the owner of Brisa's Waxing Studio in Temecula California and has been in the beauty industry for seven years. She has an untraditional path to becoming an esthetician, but quickly fell in love with helping people feel beautiful and confident in their own skin. Brisa started her own business to foster a positive work environment and balance her professional and personal life. She is passionate about Brazilian waxing and relies heavily on social media to connect with her clients and market her brand.

How long have you been in the beauty industry?

7 years 

What inspired you to become an esthetician?

My journey to becoming an esthetician is a bit different from most. I never really struggled with skin issues or had a strong interest in the beauty industry. However, I always had a passion for helping others. Life took some unexpected turns, and I found myself a single mom working as a receptionist at a European Wax Center. I wanted to go back to school to provide a better life for my son and me. Some of my coworkers suggested I try esthetician school, and before I knew it, I was a full-fledged esthetician. Although this wasn't the path I initially imagined, I completely fell in love with my career! I discovered that through the services I provide, I can help my clients feel beautiful and confident in their own skin. Some may say it's just a wax, but it's so much more. Waxing has allowed me to help many people feel comfortable and beautiful in their own skin. Whether it's giving them the confidence to wear a bikini, dress, or shorts, feel beautiful in photos or on special occasions, or helping a wife feel more confident with her husband, it makes me extremely happy to be able to do that for women!

Why did you decide to start your own business?

As a mother of two children, I wanted the freedom to create my own schedule and also have the control to offer and use products that I felt were the best.

What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced while running your own business? How do you cope?

My biggest challenge when I first started my business was growing my clientele. When I went solo, I had to get out of my comfort zone to try different strategies and techniques to bring clientele into my studio.

 

What's your favorite service to perform and why?

My favorite service to perform is a Brazilian wax. I love that it’s quick and easy and it really helps women feel clean, comfortable, and confident.

What is one business tool that you can't live without?

The one tool I can’t live without would definitely be Instagram! I love that I can share my day-to-day with my clients and keep them involved in my business. Anytime I am thinking about adding a new service or product, I can post it and get the opinion and feedback from my clients. This allows me to really understand what my clients would love or need. Another huge benefit is that it’s free advertising! I have gotten so many new clients from it, and it’s an easy way for my clients to share my business with others! Not only that, but it also allows me to connect with my fellow estheticians! I get to see new products, what people are loving, and also give as well as receive some great advice! It’s such a wonderful community, and I’m so glad I get to be a part of it!

How and when did you discover Bushbalm Skincare? Why did you decide to carry us?

I heard of Bushbalm through one of my Esthetician friends. I went on your website to check out your products and sign up for a wholesale account. Shortly after I received an email from one of your representatives offering to send me some free samples. Once I got those, I really fell in love with the products. I loved how they felt and really worked. Also, one of the best parts is the price point. it’s very affordable and still such an effective product.

Which Bushbalm product is most popular at your salon? Why do you think that is?

It would definitely have to be the ingrown hair oil. I believe it’s the most popular because my clients just love the way it feels on their skin and how well it actually works. They also love to play with the sense and change it up! It’s always so exciting when there is a new limited edition sent released and they get to change it up.

What do you enjoy most about the Bushbalm Pro community?

I love how welcoming, kind and friendly the community is and feels! I got the best impression at one of the trade shows. They really made me feel important and welcomed. Unfortunately I did not have that same experience in other booths. 

What advice would you give to new estheticians entering the field right now?

Don’t give up! Get out of your comfort zone and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. Not every strategy you try will work but don’t get discouraged because your moment will come.
