Meet Breanne! Breanne is a Licensed Esthetician located in Staten Island, New York. Breanne has been in the beauty industry for over 14 years and is known for her incredibly fun and adorable wax videos and jelly mask pics on Instagram!
How long have you been in the beauty industry?
14 years!
What made you want to become an esthetician?
I am a cosmetologist first, which focuses on hair and just covers the basics of skincare. Later on, I became a wax specialist because I loved helping people achieve beautiful smooth skin! I especially loved helping people who struggled with ingrown hairs and acne as I realized they weren’t properly educated on how to take care of their skin. I wanted a more in-depth, hands-on education in skincare so I went back to school for esthetics in 2020.
Why did you decide to start your own business?
I was working for a waxing chain for 8 years and I was making the company a lot of money but taking home nothing but stress. I knew I wanted to continue making people feel beautiful while making good money! I have my bachelor's in business management and marketing and always wanted to own a business so it just seemed right. Having such flexibility in life is something I always wanted and am so grateful I attained it.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced while running your own business?
I would have to say my biggest challenges are growing my business, and also being content and happy with how far I have come! Of course, I want my business to grow and be thriving and constantly booked, but that's not always the case. I tend to be a little hard on myself and feel like I could and should always be doing more! I have to take a step back and acknowledge my accomplishments as well! I make more than double my salary at my previous workplace and my business is growing so I want to become better at acknowledging my accomplishments.
What is your favorite service to perform and why?
My favorite service to perform would have to be Brazilian wax! It is a service most people are nervous and uncomfortable getting done. I love making people feel calm and comfortable in such a vulnerable position. I've had clients tell me their Brazilian wax was "relaxing" and that has probably been one of the best compliments I've ever received! I have personally struggled with PCOS, cystic acne, and painful ingrown hairs. When I was younger I had no idea how to treat them because waxing wasn't as and popular and amazing products like Bushbalm weren't around yet. I had to struggle for years and hide my bikini line until I became educated! I love to educate my clients and help them discover a skin care routine that actually works!
What is one business tool that you can't live without?
Bushbalm is the holy grail of retail! Physical tool - my 10lb wax pot!
How and when did you discover Bushbalm Skincare?
I discovered Bushbalm around the summer of 2021. The company sent me full-size products to test and the rest was history! I immediately fell in love with the ingredients, the smell, and the quality. Everything about this product line was exactly what I had been looking for and what my retail shelf was missing! Also having the ability to test the product over time was beneficial!
What is the most popular Bushbalm product at your location?
I would have to say Sweet Escape oil or scrub! It's my personal favorite and my clients love the scent!! The limited edition Summer Vacay oil also flew off the shelves!
What do you enjoy most about the Bushbalm Wholesale community?
Everything! There is so much information out there for us to share. Educational posts, the support, information, inspiration, etc. The customer service from the company itself is also beyond amazing!
What is one word of advice you would give to new estheticians entering the field right now?
Never stop learning and educating yourself! Try everything, you never know what services you’ll fall in love with! And just do it! This industry is so amazing, so lucrative and there are so many opportunities!
