How long have you been in the beauty industry?

I've been in the beauty industry for 6 years now, and a business owner for 2!

What inspired you to become an esthetician?

Throughout my childhood, I was deeply involved in theater and the arts, which greatly fueled my creativity. From an early age, I experimented with makeup for dance recitals and performances. Upon graduating high school, I realized that I wanted to remain part of a creative community and transform my passion for the arts into a career. This is when I discovered esthetics, inspired by my mom, who attended cosmetology school at my age. While I knew hairstyling wasn’t my strength, she guided me to the nearest esthetics school. It was there that I recognized I could express myself through my craft while earning a living doing what I love! Thank you, Mom, for encouraging and inspiring me; I never imagined it would lead me to where I am today!

Why did you decide to start your own business?

I never anticipated starting my own business, but around four years into my career, I realized I wanted a change and to create a space that truly reflected who I am. One day, the idea struck me unexpectedly, and before I knew it, I was touring a studio and signed the lease. The rest is history!

What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced while running your own business? How do you cope?

I would say the greatest challenge I've encountered as a business owner is the fear of the unknown. It can be daunting to navigate this journey alone, filled with worries about what lies ahead. Whenever those thoughts arise, I take a moment to reflect on my beginnings and observe everything around me. This helps me quickly recognize that every obstacle is surmountable, and that’s exactly why I’m still here today!

What's your favorite service to perform and why?

My favorite service to provide is Brazilian waxing. I work efficiently and thrive in a fast-paced environment. This service is truly unique, as it allows you to form strong connections with clients after just one appointment. After building my clientele over the past two years, I feel incredibly fortunate to share this bond and witness my clients transform into amazing individuals!

What is one business tool that you can't live without?

I can't imagine my life without my booking system, GlossGenius. It handles everything for me, so I never have to stress about texting clients or sending reminders!

How and when did you discover Bushbalm Skincare? Why did you decide to carry us?

I came across Bushbalm this year while researching on social media! I was exploring various brands that are budget-friendly for my clients but still provide excellent products with quality ingredients. That's why I chose to make the switch, and my clients absolutely love it!

Which Bushbalm product is most popular at your salon? Why do you think that is?

The ingrown oils are the most sought-after Bushbalm products in my salon, particularly the pumpkin spice oil now that Halloween is approaching! My clients adore it, as I've noticed a remarkable reduction in ingrown hairs when they come in for their monthly waxing sessions.

What do you enjoy most about the Bushbalm Pro community?

I truly appreciate the sense of community and support within the Bushbalm network. As a business that carries and utilizes their products, I have never felt more acknowledged and valued.

What advice would you give to new estheticians entering the field right now?

I would tell estheticians who are just entering the field to avoid conforming to others' standards. Embrace your individuality and creativity, as that is the essence of this industry! Always remember the reason you began this journey, and you will find yourself exactly where you need to be.
