Meet Nicole Nelson, a veteran esthetician with over 11 years of experience. As the owner of Nicole Nelson Beauty, LLC in Maryland, Nicole has created a sanctuary for clients seeking personalized skincare solutions and a moment of tranquility. Before embarking on her esthetics journey, Nicole's passion for makeup artistry ignited her interest in skincare. Inspired to learn more about improving overall skin health, she decided to start her own business. At Nicole Nelson Beauty, clients can discover effective skincare routines, practice self-care, and ultimately boost their self-confidence.

How long have you been in the beauty industry?

11 years

What inspired you to become an esthetician?

I was inspired to become an esthetician when I was a makeup artist. I wanted to learn more about how to properly care for the skin and ways to improve overall skin health.

Why did you decide to start your own business?

I decided to start my business to create a space where clients could learn how to care for their skin properly, escape from daily demands, and permit themselves to decompress.

What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced while running your own business? How do you cope?

My biggest challenge in running my business is balancing the various roles and responsibilities alongside my primary job duties. To manage this, I schedule specific tasks each week, which helps me stay on track and avoid getting overwhelmed by the day’s demands.

 

What's your favorite service to perform and why?

I enjoy performing brow waxes because they instantly transform the Client's face and boost their confidence.

What is one business tool that you can't live without?

Trello and Notion are my essential tools for managing ideas, projects, and workflows. They help me keep the administrative side of my business organized.

How and when did you discover Bushbalm Skincare? Why did you decide to carry us?

I discovered Busbalm from a core client who tried a sample of the nude oil very early on when Bushbalm had two or three products accessible. I did some research, and a brand ambassador contacted me to try some products for myself, and later, I was hooked. I chose to carry the line because the ingredients were simple but effective, and the price point wasn’t intimidating when converting clients.

Which Bushbalm product is most popular at your salon? Why do you think that is?

The Bushbalm dark spot Bermuda oil is most popular because my clients like treating ingrown hairs while brightening with a soft, light scent.

What do you enjoy most about the Bushbalm Pro community?

The Bush Balm Pro community is incredible because it offers excellent marketing tools and product education that help my business thrive in intimate care. Additionally, I’ve had the opportunity to connect with other estheticians nationwide through live training webinars and skincare conferences like IECSC.

What advice would you give to new estheticians entering the field right now?

Connect with other estheticians for support and never stop learning. Find and do what you love, not what’s trendy.
